More Information:

There are two camps held annually, that are sponsored by Stroke Recovery Association of B.C. The first camp is held every Easter in Squamish at the Lions' Easter Seal Camp. There, meals are prepared for us, and accomodation is in dormitories. A huge dining hall doubles as an activity area. A warm water full size pool is available for our use. Games, talent show, dance with a full band, Easter hat parade, Easter bunny, crafts, discussion sessions, exercise and a casino night are part of the program. The camp is open to stroke survivors, caregivers and volunteers, and draws participants mainly from Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.

The second camp is held at Naramata, which is more acessible for the interior folks. Camp Naramata is a United Church camp with a huge gym, dining room, an exquisite chapel, and accomodation in cabins and motel rooms. The food is absolutely scrumptious. Camp Naramata does not have a pool for water games and exercises. Part of the program at Camp Naramata is geared to an annual general meeting ( AGM) where representatives (directors) from all B.C. clubs discuss and vote on issues. (There are two AGMs, actually, the other one being held in Vancouver in February and mostly attended by the Vancouver, Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island groups. ) The rest of the program at the Naramata Camp is fun and games, devoted to the enjoyment of stroke survivors, caregivers and volunteers, whoever is not required to attend the business meetings.
